A few other little things about Laura, she is Scottish but now lives locally with her Kiwi husband. She is a mum to two beautiful wee girls. She adores wandering around markets, the beach is her happy place and you will often see her hanging out on her mat at Urban Ashram. She is so excited to be sharing a beautiful space with us at Urban Ashram.
These days Nikki is better known for her teachings of yoga, however she has been working hands on with the body for over 20years as a massage therapist. Since opening the wellness clinic she has been drawn back to the massage table to offer body work again.
Combining her hands on skills and keen insight, expect a targeting massage that will not only leave you feeling amazing but will offer you deeper insights into your body and movement patterns.
Ali’s first career was as a professional ballet dancer in Europe, however even then she was aware of the connection between mind and body and was constantly seeking out ways to enhance her performance and well-being. After working alongside many chiropractors in Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Rarotonga and India, Ali completed her own studies and has been practicing in New Zealand for the past 3 years. She has done extensive training in Sacro-Occipital Technique, which encompasses a comprehensive assessment and gentle adjustment protocol to help clients in all stages of life. She has also done post-graduate studies to further help pregnant women and children. In addition to being available for appointments at the Brown’s Bay studio, Ali also practices up in Orewa as well as helping with the Auckland dance and performing communities. Her focus is on helping you be more aware and connected with your body and she believes this approach fits perfectly with the way yoga is taught and practiced in the Urban Ashram classes.
What is Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)? Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) Sacrum = base of spine Occiput = base of skull The two are intricately linked by your spine and the balanced structure and movement of all these are vital to maintaining and optimising your health. My services are holistic in that I assess your whole body and lifestyle and help you to understand that the problem is not the problem but rather a sign that some sort of change is warranted to produce a different result. My job is to check in with how your brain and body are functioning and to help you enhance that. A more efficiently functioning structure and nervous system frees up more energy for healing, repair and growth, and in turn changes your experience.
